I know we have some people who are in or have recently been in the hospital. Anyone want to fill us in on how Greer Baker and Linda Williams are doing? Is there anything else going on that we should know about?
We respect your privacy at this tough time. We will simply pray that “Thy Will be done.” If you want to share anything more, post it here and I will be sure to check more regularly. Or send an email to me at mjrjpiazza@aol.com I promise to share it with Vernon.

Update – We got back from Texas this evening (Sunday) and I want everyone to know that we are all doing okay thanks for everyone’s prayers, love and support. This summer the Celebration of Life for Vince will be held at a location in Jefferson City, like the K of C hall or some place like that instead of the cabin on the Osage. I agree with Mary Jane that this is a valuable family tool. Bless him and all his efforts!
My dad has been having multiple small strokes starting at about the time of our last family reunion. They have been persistent. My mom had become his full time care taker. She has not been able to leave him unattended. She has to help him with all basic care such as getting dressed, showering, etc. Two weeks ago he had his worst stroke yet because of the size and part of the brain effected. His right side is flaccid. He cannot move it at all. He can not stand. He has difficulties sitting on the side of the bed. A hoyer lift is used to move him out of bed and into a chair. He was not strong enough to qualify for the more rigorous therapy at Rusk. He is at the VA nursing home unit in Columbia with less therapy. It is very difficult for him to talk. One of the times I visited he did not know who I was. He was already in a somewhat confused state (he also has dementia new to us as of this summer) before this last stroke. It must be so frustrating for him. My mom has been there nearly every day by his side. He is able to let her know how much better he feels having her there. He qualifies for therapy for up to 90 days. We do not know what will happen after that. My mom is looking in to any and all equipment that she get get put in the house to take care of him at home. The staff said that he might not be able to go home. One person cannot do total care on someone who can’t even set himself up on the side of the bed, let alone stand and bear his own weight. This is why therapy is so important. Now we wait. Wait to see what happens next. He is at the columbia VA hospital on the third floor.
Thank you for the prayers! And thank you Lloyd for being thoughtful enough to ask here on our family page. It is a wonderful feeling knowing that our family knows what we are going through and that everyone is praying. Thank you!
