Prayers for Heidi

July 31, 2021 by Lloyd Jr. 1 Comment

(This is Lauren typing because Lloyd is asleep after a long day of pulling wire at Lincoln Lutheran. I’m sure he’ll update this later to make it charming and funny.)

Heidi is ill with painful, swollen lymph nodes but no fever. She has been tested for COVID and will know the results by Monday. She’s asking for prayers, everyone, so thank you for your faith and love!

Praying for you, Heidi!

Update: Heidi’s Covid test came back positive, so continue to keep her in your prayers.

Not too late to use your Thrivent Action Plans for Heit’s Point or elsewhere!

December 29, 2020 by Lloyd Jr. Leave a Comment

My mom, Aunt Jane to some of you, sent this to me:

Dear family,

I talked to Mark Nolte at Heit’s Point today.  If you have unused Thrivent projects you can turn them in before the end of 2020 to be used between January and April of 2021.  To use them for Heit’s Point, mark it as a servant project.  Your part will be coordinating and planning.  He has had several go through as “Help with Volunteering” for whatever is needed.  Set the use as supplies and an amount of $250.00. You can even change the address to:

Mark Nolte
Heit’s Point Lutheran Ministries
28345 Heit’s Point Ave.
Lincoln, Mo. 65338

That way, you will not have to get the project to him (it will be sent right to Heit’s point).  If you do not want to use it for Heit’s Point,  find another worthwhile project and submit for.  It has to be done before the end of December.

And I would just add that if don’t live in Missouri, it is probably easier to pick a local charity to use the free $500 dollars that everyone with a Thrivent Insurance policy or Retirement Account has.

Heit’s Point Pavilion

June 26, 2017 by Christina Rowland Leave a Comment

As you know from the e-mail that went out a few weeks ago, there was a kitchen fire at the pavilion (The Ascension House).  The entire kitchen was destroyed and will need to be cleared out and gutted, per Cindy at Heit’s.

I just called Cindy this morning in response to a few texts/e-mails I received on the use of the part of the pavilion that is not the kitchen (the gathering area).  There is no electricity at the pavilion at this time, and it will not be on by this weekend.

We do however have use of the gymnasium if we want it.  This should give us plenty of space for the kiddos to run around and still have room to set up some tables for cards or a circle to sing.   If we are gathering at the gym, we would ask that anyone besides the aunts and uncles park in the Spitz parking lot and not directly in front of the gym.  You can always drive in to drop off your stuff, but please don’t leave your vehicle.

Family Reunion Update

June 23, 2016 by Christina Rowland 4 Comments

Sorry this update has been so long in coming. You should really hire someone else. It turns out that there are very few people (at least among those who responded) who plan on sticking around past church on Sunday. So we’ve changed the schedule and meal plans to reflect that. In a nutshell, the changes are:

  • Friday add a potluck for supper (bring main dish and sides)
  • Friday add a Homerun Derby
  • Saturday all of the evening things were moved back 30 minutes
  • Saturday to help celebrate Becky & Glenn’s 40th wedding anniversary, everyone should wear blue pastel and pink pastel after the ball game (or anytime, really)
  • Sunday times for things were switched back to our normal Sunday times
  • Sunday breakfast was therefore added back to the mix
  • Sunday afternoon was removed
  • Monday was removed

Sorry for not getting this information out to you sooner.

Heit’s Point Planning Post for 2016

July 17, 2015 by Lloyd Jr. 7 Comments

reunion0

I thought this post was a little late, but this is actually a little earlier than I’ve posted it the last couple of years.

As you may recall, for the last two years we’ve had a planning post for next year’s reunion. I’ll start off with some of the things that we decided after church and then we can talk about whatever you want…

  • The 4th is on a Monday in 2016, and we will have the reunion from Friday, July 1st to Monday, July 4th. I checked with Heit’s Point before church, and those dates are available. Someone should check about the days before and after for the people who like to come early and/or leave late.  We are anticipating some people arriving Friday and some Saturday and some people leaving Sunday and others Monday.
  • The picture will be on Saturday.
  • Meals seemed to go well and we decided to leave them as is.
  • We will be buying a brick for Aunt Alma and will continue to do so for our Aunts and Uncles. If anyone else wants to purchase a brick for anyone else, Rachel will help facilitate that. Debbie is heading the group that is deciding what we want to do for cousins. If you want to be a part of that group, contact Debbie.
  • Last year we had $5 more donated than we spent. This year we had $450 more donated than we spent. This is not entirely accurate, because some people buy things for the reunion and do not wish to be reimbursed. We have $950 in the sock that I am using as a bank, and will be buying Aunt Alma’s brick from that amount.
  • We donated $550 to Heit’s Point directly (mostly through the church offering) and also donated $500 that will be used to pay for the new refrigerator that you saw (plus buying shelves for it) and for a new stove for the Pavilion (or repairing the current one). The current one only has two burners that work.
  • Letting the oldest members of the family reserve rooms in the Spitz Center first seemed to work well. At least no one said anything bad about it, so we will do that again next year.
  • Finally, I just want to remind everyone again that I like putting announcements on the website, but you have to tell me what to put up. Just because you put something on Facebook doesn’t mean that I will see it.

I think that’s everything that we decided. Below are just some general thoughts of mine. feel free to comment on any of these or add your own…

  1. We will have more meals again next year and will need to know who will be at Heit’s Point for what days to figure out how much to buy.
  2. As Uncle Mahlon pointed out, we might have had too many, um, eating opportunities on Saturday. We should probably plan that a little better.
  3. Will the Aunts and Uncles be having their Mandatory Drug Testing and Psych Evaluation next year? Will that be just on Saturday or Saturday and Sunday? I think Kathy has been in charge of that for the last two years. Is that her thing now?
  4. We will be having two Lunches (formerly at the docks and now at the pavilion). Do we bring twice as much of what Becky and Debbie said to bring or something else?
  5. Is there any other information about the reunion that you would like to have on the website?
  6. Did having the list of jobs to do on a poster help, or was it the same people doing the same jobs?
  7. We should have more time next year to do some of the things that we didn’t really do this year.
  8. Lauren thinks that there should be a Dish PreRinsing Station outside the kitchen, to help with dish washing. I’ll have her get right on it.
  9. I think we need another table for books/cards/addresses… next year. It seemed uncomfortably crowded this year.
  10. Maybe we could make some of the posters before we come next year.
  11. It seems like we’ve finally gotten our act together with the photos. Remember when that used to take 3 times as long?
  12. Whatever number of books I had made for the reunion was about right. I had one left. Anyone want it?

That’s all I can think of right now. Add your own below or comment on these…
