Mahlon was out standing in his field (tobacco). The hat is an Army hat and I don’t know which of the boys brought them home to us. We called them sun helmets and would have burned to a crisp without them. The shed was a two room shed with only a hole to crawl through to get from one room to another. That’s what I remember about it and I don’t know why there wasn’t a door between the two rooms. I don’t know if Daddy build that shed or if it came with the farm.
When Bud was stationed at Jefferson Barracks they all got one of those hats. When they shipped out they didn’t have room for the hats so they put them in the trash. Bud collected the hats from the trash and took them to Sis’s house. When she came home she brought the hats…must have been forty or fifty of them. We really used them.
The shed was there when we got the farm. It had a pen around it and we had some pigs in there for awhile.
