Like everyone else I remember where I was when Kennedy was shot. I didn’t believe it. I Thought someone was pulling my leg. Was just coming into study hall. Lloydand I were downtown Chicago the day they had the riots. We must have left just a little before it all started.
The part of the depression I remember was the rationing of food, gas, ect. I remember praying for all the little children to be able to have cocoa. I still like cocoa. I remember world war two. when I was old enough to walk up to the mail box, by myself, looking for a letter from Uncles Bud, Felix, Vernon, Mother always sighed with relief when letters came from her boys. It ment that they were still alive. I don’t know how she stood those awful days of the wars worring. We all worried about them. We were glad Mahlon was safe in Alaska. When the twin towers of New york City were flown into I was standing in Steve’s living room watching tv, and couldn’t believe what was happening to us. The people were flying or falling out the windows you could see all that horriable stuff happening.
I remember watching the space shuttle land on the moon during grade school.
I remember that I was driving to work during the 911 attack and I listened to a station where they were always reporting stupid stuff that wasn’t true, so when I got to work and my co-worker was upset I was very surprised to find out it was true.
I was in 7th grade when the Cardinals played the Royals for the World Series and we went to see the train with all the players on it during school hours.
I remember watching President Regan when the Berlin Wall came down.
I remember listening to the adults talk about the bombing of Hiroshima and I was afraid to go outside because I thought a bomb was going to fall on my head (I was about 3 or 4 years old). I didn’t know where Hiroshima was.
