Photo Friday: now with more horses
Alexis Bennett, writer for the The American Quarter Horse Journal wrote a nice article about Danny recent world championship win in Amarillo Texas. Here’s the first part of the article:
Daniel Sommerer’s debut at the Adequan Select World Champion Show was not without reward. The horseman from Jefferson City, Missouri, secured his first world championship title in weanling geldings with his horse, Embrace Me Cool.
This is Dan’s very first time to compete at an AQHA world champion show and said, “It feels wonderful. It feels better than I expected,” when asked about his win.
The experience has been fruitful and fun.
“This is a great venue. People have been very supportive and wonderful. I thank AQHA for putting something like this on,” he said.
His family is not new to the show world; in fact, halter horses are a family interest. His twin sons, Lance and Chance, qualified for the AQHA youth world show in 2008. Lance Sommerer finished eighth in 2008 with the dam of Dan’s weanling.
“It is a family event. We’ve got another son who’s in high school. My daughter just started college. She and my wife, they’re at home taking care of things while we’re off all week,” Dan said.
