Correspondence
Correspondence from Uncle Felix and Aunt Carol (part 1)
Among the items in the box of treasures that Aunt Cleo let me borrow were some letters from Uncle Felix and Aunt Carol to Grandma and Grandpa. I scanned them in, but if someone wants to transcribe them for the mutual good, I’m sure that many would appreciate it.

Someone asked where all this written stuff comes from, and you can thank Pete for a whole lot of it. Below is the letter that he sent out about 15 years ago asking people to write things down. Thanks Pete. I don’t actually have a copy of any of that stuff, but my sister had some of it. Mary Jane sends me stuff from Uncle Vernon every once in a while. Aunt Naomi and Aunt Lolly typed up lots of stuff and got copies to me (you’ll be seeing more of all that shortly).
I don’t really have anything from Aunt Margie, Aunt Bea, Aunt Cleo, Uncle Mahlon or Uncle Lloyd. This is surprising in the case of the latter two, because you can’t hardly get them to stop talking. Maybe someone could just record them… Seriously though, it would be good to record some of these guys memories. I say we put Tom in charge of it.
Photo Friday: Letter from Uncle Justin
I found the letter below in my “Memory Box” and thought it may be of interest. I don’t know why or how I have the letter but am glad I found it. It was sent from Justin Williams, 4235 Silver Hill, Washington, DC. [The transcript is below the image]

Dear Folks:
Hope this letter finds everyone in good health. We are o.k. at present and enjoying some cool summer weather at present.
We decided to stay home this July 4th and by doing that Elizabeth put us to work cleaning house. The School of Hope ended this year’s session and Elizabeth started right in to housecleaning.
Say, I hope you two have decided to come back with us. We are planning on it. I am sure you will enjoy the trip back to Washington by car and then when your visit is over Elizabeth and I will let you take your choice; either fly home or go by train. I’m sure you would like the trip by plane because Mom sure did when she visited us. You can get somebody to help Lloyd while you two take a little vacation. I think you deserve it. (insert by Elizabeth) Mom will you let us know if you think you can come out?)
Will close for this time and, Adolph, you and Therese take good care of yourselves so you can make that trip back to Washington with us.
Will see you in the near future.
Justin

The crops are wonderful through Illinois + Indiana nothing but corn, beans, alfalfa + clover on either side the highway as far as your eyes could see most places. Well Elizabeth has sweet corn + all trimmings ready for supper. I hope you are all fine as this leaves us. Mom
