I guess I was about 4 years old when these sheep were sold. I do remember a black lamb was given to me and it died. I guess it was a runt and they didn’t think it would live anyway.
Maybe they were no longer profitable to raise. I remember the old sheep buck, we had to always watch out for him. He would chase us ever chance he got. I can remember when they sheered the sheep, that was lots of fun to watch. I can’t remember who sheered them though. Was it Vernon and Mahlon? It was interesting to read who bought the sheep. Uncle Eddie was one. and Mr. Motz Goetz was another.
I don’t think this was selling them off (unless he didn’t have any after this). It looks like this page is just listing what he got for Bucks and Wool in 1945 with the last two lines running into 1946.
Lauren says that the average fleece wait is 7 lbs, so that would mean shearing about 12 sheep to get 87 lbs of wool.

I have been wondering when we didn’t raise sheep any longer. Did father have a sale..? I should remember this.

Do you remember watching them sheer sheep when you were little, Lloyd?
Aunt Lolly says
Does it say what they got for the wool a pound?
Lloyd Jr. says
Yes, I remember being there for someone shearing twice. I don’t think there were a lot of sheep to shear. I don’t remember how many we had.
Aunt Lolly, it says he got $0.43 per pound. I wonder what people get for wool now?
Also, I’ve quit putting it on the photos every time, but you can click on them to get a larger version.
