This letter is full of family history. I enjoyed reading it over and over. Now I have to figure out how old everybody was and If Carolyn Jean was having a baby which on was it. Why was mother is Memorial Hospital and not St Marys? Mystery Mystery. Where in the world did Vernon go on this trip ? I dont think they made any overseas trips until after Mary Jane became a airline stewardess. Help
OK, so who found this letter and why do I barely remember it? Grandma sure liked letters and visits, didn’t she? Yep, my mother’s “people” included lots of “scribes” with scrolly calligraphy writing, so I guess I got the gene. I made that slinky navy prom dress and got LOTS of wear out of it! I can still smell that Italian restaurant in my mind. What a job keeping track of the wait list on Mizzou football weekends. I liked being close to Jeff City, but wondering how I would have gotten there without a car. Hum…maybe my cute boyfriend. I’ll ask Dad where they went September 1975–and yes, it was before any of us even heard of passports. I started with TWA in May 1977 as soon as I graduated, and moved to NYC on 7/7/77 — guess that was a lucky number! That roommate is now head of the Biology Dept at Mizzou. Smarty pants she was. Carolyn, which baby was born in 1975? How did Grandma get hepititis?? Did it lead to anything more, or did she recover fully? She passed away when I was pregnant with Olivia some 20 years later in 1995, so she was in her mid 70’s? Where was she living then?
Gramma was still at home on the farm in 75. That would have been five years after Daddy died. I just can’t remember why she would have been in the hospital. I don’t remember her having hepititis either. Craig was born in Nov. of 1975. Mary Jane did you have to go to NY to apply for your job at TWA? Did they come to the college and interview you there? You have an exciting life. Vincent is at MU now. Do we have any more family there?
I don’t think I’m imagining it, but I remember getting a hepititis shot because Mother had it. I thought anyone that had been to the farm and drank the water had to get a shot. Does anyone else remember anything like this or is it something I invented????
I remember being there once when my dad did that. I didn’t know what was going on. I do remember that there were some unpleasant things in the cistern.

I enjoyed the letter too. I really was impressed with the artwork on the envelope with the little “Get Well” flowers.

Is that why we started pouring clorox in the cistern? I know we had to do it when mother didn’t see us because it made her mad! ha

That was a nice way of putting it Lloyd Jr. Maybe those things were what made us all healthy. Frog, snakes, and whatever.
