Johnny was on the cistern rock with Naomi not Lloyd. When these pictures were taken Lloyd was not on them. He was either not born yet or he was in the Hospital With his bad foot. It seems like Elizabeth and Justin and Lillian and Ted were at home with their children because we are all on these pictures except Lloyd. My thought is that maybe they all came to Jefferson City to see Lloyd, and that is why he is not on the pictures. You know we came close to loosing Lloyd, If Dr Taylor haden’t come home from the service when He did. things may have turned out different. Dr Taylor had been using penicillin in the service and St Marys let Dr Taylor use it on Lloyd the get rid of the gangrene and it worked. Thanks be to God. That is not Lloyd with Naomi , it is Johnny.
Lloyd was born May 23,1943.. He was in the Hospital for a month with the gangrene in his foot and Leg. He had his 3 birthday in the Hospital so that must have been Spring of 1946. By that time we were not allowed to go to see him. I think Mother and Father were allowed to visit. After D day they used penicillin on the veterans. That was June 6 1944 so the service doctors had been using it about 2 years..
I purchased those shoes with my own money that I got for helping Mahlon with the janitor work at Oak Grove school after school and carrying in the drinking water and the wood for the stove, and eraseing the black board and sweeping the floor. I guess the war was over I am not sure but I dont think that I need Rationing stamps and the shoes were very cheep. About the second or third time I wore them we were at a picnic at the bois brule creek with mothers club. There were a lot of people there. The kids were swimming and running around bear footed.I wasn’t use to going bear footed and i couldn’t stand it and I had to wear my shoes in the water and they fell apart. They were made of cardboard.
Those Kuegele genes produced some beautiful children. What ever happened to the picture of Teddy , Mary, and Mickey that Ted and Sis gave Mother. We loved to look at that picture.
I agree Nathan. I would love to see more of those St. Louisians and the other neices and nephews from all over. Some of us do not subscribe to Facebook to see them. This is a “nudge” to mail or e-mail some pics to Lloyd, Jr. or Christina (whoever the Wizard of the Sommerer Website is right now) so they can get them on.

Doesn’t Mickey look like Ophelia? So precious.

It’s those Kuegele cheeks, Aunt Lolly…
It’s nice to see us St. Louis city slickers in the occasional Photo Friday!
